Looking for a Villa Rental with Gardens Crete? Then you’ve found it all at Longhouse Crete… The two acre garden has not been landscaped to mimic a European style garden, but has been created with a Japanese style zen, utilising the original wild almond, pear and carob trees, and the rocky boulders.
Hidden paths create structure around which local and heat resistant planting has been sited, blending naturally into the landscape of Crete. Bright blooms add to the colour of the gardens all year round. The winding paths invite you to wander round the extensive garden or guide you to areas high and low where you can sit and view the gardens, the sea and the mountains beyond.
To the front of the house either side of the front terrace overlooking the sea, there are two raked Japanese Zen gravel gardens incorporating large boulders. The intent of a Zen gravel garden is to create a sense of serenity and peace – exactly what you are looking for with a villa rental in Crete.
Surrounding the house the gardens are heavily planted but outside of the planted areas, we have cleared the undergrowth to allow the native trees, mainly wild almond and wild pear to grow. In the spring, the wild trees are covered in blossom and below the trees, wild orchids and flowers bloom in abundance.
Within the garden are some ancient olive trees from which we harvest olives to make our very own extra virgin organic olive oil, a complimentary bottle of which will be available for each villa rental.
